The training hours
These three quantities are what the Advisory Board sent to committee, now answered in the revised text. Move them and watch what changes for the person doing the training. Choose a role, then set the model to the published text of August 25, which is what the rule now requires, or to the recommendation, which stands at the committee’s August 21 position. The strip below the role always names the position you are looking at. The earlier positions, Dr. Anne Metz’s July 17 presentation and the committee’s July 27 submission, are on the training-hours record and the recommendation page.

The recommendation's figures are reported, not checked. They are sourced to the document shown and read aloud at the August 21 committee meeting; no recording or transcript of that meeting is held on this site yet, an absence tracked in the gaps register. When the department posts its recording, those figures are checked against it. The published text's figures are cited to the rule published August 25, 2026, held on this site.

What the classroom figure counts. Classroom here is the module total, the didactic hours and the simulated patient experience added together, because that is the only basis on which the positions can be compared. In the published rule that is 80 hours: 7.35.3.18 (C), p. 12, sets "a minimum of 65 didactic hours with at least one third of the didactic hours conducted in person, and 10 hours of simulated patient experience", and (D) for facilitators or (E) for practitioners adds a role module of a minimum of five didactic hours. Didactic alone is therefore 70 and the module total is 80. The New Mexico module at 7.35.3.18 (A) is required of every role and carries no hour count anywhere in the rule, so it adds nothing to either figure.
The published text. Supervised practice at 7.35.3.19 (A), pp. 13 to 14, which sets "a minimum of 100 hours of supervised practice training for facilitators and 120 hours for practitioners". The practitioner's 20 hours supervising facilitators, at 7.35.3.19 (D), p. 14, sit inside that 120 rather than adding to it. Inside the totals, new on August 25: the first 20 administration-day hours are with patients the supervising practitioner determines low-risk, and the student must receive a passing grade on case presentations of two of their last four patients, 7.35.3.19 (A)(3) and (C), p. 14. Mentoring at 7.35.3.17 (A), p. 11, which requires "a minimum of 10 hours of mentoring sessions after graduation and after practicum hours are completed". All of it in the rule published August 25, 2026.
The recommendation. The committee's August 21 position, stated in full on the recommendation page: 80 didactic hours with minimums in nine content areas summing to 63, a staged practicum of 102 hours for facilitators and 114 for licensed providers, the recommendation's name for the practitioner, and an 18-hour case presentation and consultation group inside the practicum total, on two cases the student personally provided. Its 80 counts the 2 simulated-patient hours inside the total exactly as the published 80 counts its 10, so the figures compare directly. Nothing further is required after the practicum, so the third quantity is zero for this position. Revised proposed ruleCurrent state of truth
The revised proposed rule, published August 25 with the notice fixing the October 2 hearing, superseding the set-aside July 23 text. Raised the practitioner and facilitator therapy module from 30 didactic hours to 65, at least one third in person, and the simulated patient requirement from 5 hours to 10. Added eleven curriculum topics without per-area hour minimums, a case-presentation evaluation inside the unchanged 100 and 120 practicum hours, a low-risk requirement on the first 20 administration-day hours, and a didactic waiver. Kept the role names certifying clinician and practitioner, defining them in amendments to 7.35.2.7 published the same day.

Revisions to this page
- August 26, 2026 The model re-based to the August 25 published position as the default: the module total 80, the practicum 100 or 120 with the case-presentation evaluation stated, mentoring 10, beside the recommendation's August 21 position; the role toggle reads Practitioner, and the source note quotes the revised text.
- August 24, 2026 An accuracy pass corrected the sourcing note, which described the model's two positions as both from August 21, and the off-preset label, which now reads matching neither position.
- August 24, 2026 Role vocabulary entered the site's own voice: the middle role is the Licensed Provider, the recommendation's name for the role the published text calls the practitioner, and the screening role is written certifying clinician / medical screener, the recommendation's proposed rename, still being pushed. Verbatim quotes and provision names keep the documents' own words.

- August 21, 2026 The kicker and the model's position note now state the schedule as restated: the department stated at the August 21 committee meeting that revised proposed rules publish August 25 and that the rule hearing, first set for August 28, is anticipated for October 2, with the final notice to fix the date.
- August 13, 2026 The kicker above the model is now written by tools/sync-status.py, which holds the status of the rulemaking once and writes every surface that shows it, so the line stating what is open and what was submitted is corrected in one file when it changes.
- July 31, 2026 The model now carries three named positions, each with its date and its own colour: the rule published July 23, the recommendation Dr. Anne Metz presented on July 17, and the recommendation the committee submitted on July 27. A strip above the sliders names the position on screen at all times, the buttons show which one is set, and moving a slider off all three says so rather than leaving the reader to guess. Every figure in the Metz position is quoted in the source note from her written recommendations, which are held in docs/documents; the committee position states that its figures are reported rather than checked, because that document is not in the public record.
- July 28, 2026 The third quantity was labelled Supervision and cited to 7.35.3.18 and .19 alone, while the published 10-hour figure it carries is the mentoring requirement; verified against the published PDF, it now names mentoring and consultation and cites 7.35.3.17 (A), p. 10. One line beneath the model links the two routing instruments, the routes and the license tables. The page name is now the same in the title, the heading, and the menu: the training hours.
- July 28, 2026 One grouped menu on every page replaced the flat seven-item navigation, with the Documents dropdown at its right edge, and every stylesheet link now carries the style.css content hash so a page and its styles arrive from the same deploy.
- July 27, 2026 Created in the July 27 redesign: the working model of the deferred quantities, with the three sliders, the role toggle, and the program-total and cost reads against the published position. The submitted recommendation's figures entered the model the same day.
